Foundary Design is a company dedicated to helping people make their homes look and feel more beautiful, functional and livable. There are many ways to accomplish this, and we have a long list of services designed to help people create the spaces they imagine, but aren’t always certain how to achieve. We also have a retail component, ready assist people in sourcing just the right furnishings and accessories for their homes.

No, Foundary Design is not an interior design firm. Our principal, Danna Sanderson, has extensive training and experience in home staging and styling, as well as paint color selection. She has also been sourcing home goods, furnishings, lamps, rugs and accessories for many years, and has developed professional relationships with vast array of wholesale, retail and resale vendors. (A professional interior designer has a slightly more extensive skill set).

Our prices are significantly more affordable than the average interior designer. One of our main goals has been to provide people with services they can reasonably afford. This doesn’t mean we lack the experience or skill to provide excellent service to our clients. While our service list is not as extensive as a professional interior designer, our prices definitely tend to be more budget friendly.

No, at this time we do not provide those services. We can assist a client in choosing paint, wallpaper and window treatments, but we do not actually paint, wallpaper or hang window treatments. As we build the company, if there is enough demand, we may consider adding these services to our menu.

Like many things in life, choosing the best possible paint colors takes time. We absolutely cannot assist in making actual color selections without visiting a space (or doing a live chat), providing the client with large wall samples and assessing the lighting. This process can take a week or two, depending on the client’s schedule. If you really want to choose paint immediately, we can provide pre-made color palettes based on the aesthetic you are hoping to achieve. We can’t guarantee the colors will be perfect in your space, but we can guarantee they will coordinate and flow well with the other colors in the palette, and will provide an aesthetic in keeping with their title (Modern Feminine, Coastal Farmhouse, etc).

Foundary Design is based in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Geographically, we are located ten minutes from the US/Canadian border. However, we are highly mobile, and will travel up to 100 miles for an initial consultation. Sometimes it’s possible to complete an initial consultation over the phone (with follow up photos and video), but often clients prefer an in-person consultation. And we are ready to make that happen. (Although we are close in proximity to Canada, we regret that we are not able to provide services in Canada as of right now. However, having lived in Canada for most of her childhood, Danna is exploring the possibility of being able to work there in the future).

A phone call or e-mail to our principal, Danna Sanderson, is the best way to get the process underway. We like to get to know you a little bit, and to understand what you’re hoping to accomplish in your space. A simple 15-minute phone call is usually adequate to determine if we will be able to assist you. If we all agree to proceed, the client is provided with a basic service contract for review. Again, if all seems to be in order, an initial consultation will be scheduled. We HATE surprises, and make every effort to clearly explain our pricing structure, projected time frames and available services in the initial stage of our relationship with a client. The more effectively we can all articulate in the beginning, the more positive the relationship and the more successful the outcome!

Of course! We have an extensive on-line store with a fantastic selection of home décor items, rugs, tableware, drinkware, textiles, lamps, furniture, accessories and seasonal décor. We can ship or drop-ship items anywhere in the United States. Some items require a few weeks lead time to ship, but much of our inventory is in stock and will ship out as soon as possible.
